retroFUZZ
The retroFUZZ brings the iconic sound of the Rush Pepbox into the modern era, with enhanced functionality thanks to BIAS and TONE controls.
Built around two select silicon transistors, retroFUZZ faithfully delivers the aggressive, raw tone of the original Pepbox, while adding new features for greater versatility. The PCB design is a throwback to an earlier era, featuring exposed traces, curved tracks and teardrop pads.
Controls:
Volume: Adjust your output level with ease.
Fuzz: Control the amount of distortion, from slight breakup to intense.
Tone: Roll off low end as you turn it up, or set to maximum for the original Pepbox tone shaping.
Bias: Fine-tune the second transistor’s operational point. Go from gated, sputtering fuzz at low settings to optimal vintage fuzz at noon. Beyond 3 o'clock adds asymmetry to the transistor clipping. An internal trimmer allows fine tuning of the bias range. It is factory set for an 8.9v supply.
The retroFUZZ is housed in a hand polished silkscreened 125B aluminum enclosure with top-mounted jacks. An external 2.1mm center negative 9v DC power supply is required (not included.) No battery option.
