Black Phillip
Black Philip is an fuzzy distortion with attitude.
Based on a very popular one-knob high-gain circuit, but a few additions make it a unit of its own. With smooth gain and a mid-rich tone control alongside a clean-blend knob, it’s equally suitable for both guitar and bass.
Not just a distortion, and not just a fuzz
Turning the guitar volume knob down will further reduce the gain – a slight back-off will make it sound like a dirty overdrive, and if you set it to a close-to-zero position will make your overall guitar tone crunchy and slightly brighter.
Very standard controls, which give you quite a lot to play with
Gain – This is a pre-gain knob which controls the signal volume going into the pedal. It goes from "a lot" to "even more".
Tone - This Big Muff style tone control keeps a good amount of midrange while cutting the highs and lows.
Level – This one sets the output volume of the pedal. There is a lot of headroom on it!
Blend – Splits the input signal and blends the clean signal into the dirt circuit. Set it to the middle position for a 50% clean and distorted signal. Move it to the right to completely remove the distorted signal.
