The Abacus

The Abacus

The Abacus isn’t just another pedal—it’s a reimagining of what gain control can be.

Whether you're chasing vintage crunch, modern high-gain saturation, or something entirely unique, this pedal’s flexible layout ensures you’ll find your perfect sound—quickly and effortlessly.

Evolving from the "hard clipping" circuits of the '70s, The Abacus is a powerhouse of dynamic drive. It gives you complete control, allowing for quick adjustments and easily repeatable settings.

How It Works
At first glance, The Abacus may seem complex, but its innovative design makes dialing in your perfect tone effortless.
The top row of switches controls GAIN, while the second row adjusts VOLUME.

Instead of traditional knobs, the Abacus uses a unique numerical system inspired by an abacus—each switch represents a value (4, 2, 2, 1, 1) corresponding to the graphic, adding up to 10.
Engaging all switches at once is equivalent to turning a traditional knob to 10, but you can mix and match for virtually any setting found on a standard potentiometer.

Fine-Tune Your Sound
Beneath the gain and volume controls, three additional switches give you even more sonic versatility:

Left Switch – Brightness Control:
Down: Warmer, darker tone
Up: Brightens the sound, especially at higher gain levels

Middle Switch – Gain Mode:
Down: Low-gain settings for smoother, more controlled drive
Up: High-gain mode for more aggressive, saturated distortion

Right Switch – Clipping Mode:
Up: Silicon – Tight, aggressive clipping
Middle: LED – More open, dynamic response
Down: Germanium (NOS D9b) – Warmer, vintage-style distortion
