Velcrow Gated Fuzz

Velcrow Gated Fuzz

Meet the Velcrow – Controlled Chaos In A Box

Some gated fuzzes feel like they’re fighting you. Explosive, unpredictable, and full of attitude, but not always something practical you can wrangle in a mix. They have a voice, sure, but not much of a vocabulary.

Velcrow is my take on that style of ripping, clamp-tight fuzz that feels like it’s about to self-destruct yet somehow stays right on the edge of control. It captures the sputtering chaos of those cult-favorite circuits that blur the line between fuzz and gate, then rebuilds it with higher headroom, more output, and a tone that actually fits on a pedalboard.

Built on a reimagined Tonebender MkIII foundation, Velcrow preserves the transistor abuse that gives those classic gated circuits their unique bite, but refines the response for clarity and playability. The gate still snaps shut when it should, but your notes now fade naturally, with grit instead of silence.

The EQ section takes inspiration from the broad sweep of a Muff-style tone stack, but every part has been re-voiced for balance and focus. It delivers less congestion, stronger mids when you want them, and a low end that punches without overpowering. The result is familiar in spirit but sharper and more articulate.

Velcrow is not a polite fuzz. It’s not vintage-correct. It’s the kind of fuzz that knows exactly when to shut up and exactly how to make itself heard.
