There are many variants on two common designs. The most famous is the tube screamer which uses diode clipping around an op amp feedback loop. The distortion stage is followed by a low pass filter to smooth off the sharp clipping caused by the diodes. Some people use different clipping elements to get a different sound. Some manufacturers have identical circuits, and only change the clipping element, and sell this as whole new pedal.
We included 5 different clipping modes as standard. We also beefed up the tone control giving it a wider range, and added a “BODY” control to dial in the midrange perfectly.
MODE position 1 will give you classic TS type sounds, position 2 will give you classic OD1 type sounds, position 3 will give you classic Guvnor type sounds, position 4 will give you classic OCD type sounds, position 5 is a Mozztronics special that we use in the DL30 Driveline pedal.
